Steady light

A steady light means the computer stored a fault. It’s usually safe to keep driving for a short time, but book a diagnostic soon.

✓ Check that your gas cap is tight

✓ Note any new noises, smells or shaking

✓ Write down when it came on

Flashing light

A flashing light often means a misfire that can overheat and damage the catalytic converter. Reduce speed, pull over when safe and call us.

Why a code isn’t a diagnosis

A code points to a system, not a part. We confirm the cause with testing so you only pay for the repair you need.

This article is general information. Your owner’s manual and a hands-on inspection come first, so call us if you’re unsure.

General information

This article is general advice, not a diagnosis. Every car is different. If something sounds, smells or feels off, call the shop.
